The Cowboys Don't Even Play In Dallas!

We can't really pinpoint why, but we didn't love Dallas.  It did however give Katie something new to obsess over...the John F. Kennedy Assassination.  While in the Metroplex we visited our first Y.M.C.A. in a downtown city, walked around Thanks-Giving Square, browsed a bit at the very first Niemen Marcus, lunched in Deep Ellum, toured the Sixth Floor Museum, ate at Sonny Bryan's Smokehouse, missed the Texas State Fair mascot (Katie was very excited to see Big Tex, but after searching everywhere in Fair Park, we soon found out that the large cowboy was badly burned in an electrical fire at the end of the 2012 State Fair and won't return until the beginning of the 2013 State Fair), window shopped at NorthPark Center, tried Popovers & lived it up in the Bishop Arts District.

Not sure what we were expecting, but there wasn't much
Deep Ellum
Deciding where to have lunch was not easy, but after a heated discussion, we
ended up walking just East of the city to Deep Ellum & tried Cane Rosso,
a Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives recommendation that served some of the best pizza we've had
Katie inspecting the JFK mosaic with a magnifying glass at The Sixth Floor Museum
We ended up staying at the museum until it closed and Katie hasn't stopped talking about
the Kennedys' or the assassination since
The O'Babbitt's in Dealey Plaza at the infamous Grassy Knoll
We felt weird taking a picture at the site of an assassination,
but a group of JKF enthusiasts insisted on taking our photo
The extremely understated John F. Kennedy Memorial Plaza
We even stayed at a Wal*Mart near Love Field, the airport the president was
flown out of...this just fueled the fire for Katie's "theories"
Babbitt at a "table" at Sonny Bryan's Smokehouse
Babbitt loved the meat & portions, but thought the sides were lacking...never good for Katie

We strolled through the shops, met the nicest lady at Zola's Everyday Vintage, drove
past the movie theater Lee Harvey Oswald was captured in & enjoyed authentic Chicago, well actually, Gary, IN Italian food...we're letting it slide that they were slightly over the state line, because the food was that good
