Texas Tidbits

In between our eating frenzy we popped in & out of a few places...to start we saw The Orange Show and Beer Can House, fed free roaming animals from the Rig at the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, biked through Austin and found out the city is not as bike friendly as we originally thought it would be, toured the Texas State Capitol, sat in on an unproductive Texas House of Representatives debate & drank with the locals on 6th Street.
Jeff McKissack transformed his home into The Orange Show to honor his favorite fruit...
it's bizarre & whimsical all at the same time, but something to see if you are in Houston
After The Orange Show we decided to skip this tour & instead got the gist by just driving by
Babbitt enticing the animals with food at the Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch
We may have taken advantage of our large Rig here &
hid Katie in the "bedroom" while Babbitt paid for his admission
Babbitt getting attacked by an aggressive ostrich
There were no warnings to keep your windows cracked when feeding the
ostriches...we think this may have been karma at work for sneaking in an extra patron
The Texas State Capitol Dome
We had a wonderful tour guide who loved Texas & didn't care who knew it...
he took us through the Capitol Building, taught us a lot & told some funny political jokes
Door hinge at the Texas State Capitol
The word Texas or the Texas Star is literally on everything in the Capitol Building
We were technically eating at Threadgill's, but the food was so bad we decided to call
this stop a tourist trap instead, because Janis Joplin was a waitress here
Katie drinking an AMF at Toulouse on Sixth Street
We started our bar hopping at the Thirsty Nickel where we listened to a 90's Cover Band
