The Land Of Many Totems

Since Babbitt went to the trouble of acquiring his passport before we left Indianapolis, we decided it was time to take this trip abroad!  So, we left The Rig in the States & walked aboard the MV Coho to Victoria, BC.  The rocky ferry ride over was uneventful, but things did get more interesting when we were detained for a few minutes while the Canadian Immigration Department ran our passports for more information...guess we looked suspicious?  Once we were cleared for entry into Canada, we enjoyed the British/Canadian lifestyle & celebrated B.C. Day with the locals!

The Victoria Marriott Inner Harbour Hotel
We may have had a little separation anxiety about leaving The Rig in the U.S.
for the night & even though our hotel smelled of fish, our corner room over
looking the city & hot showers more than made up for it
Beacon Hill Park
This park was lovely to walk through & they were also holding a festival in honor of B.C. Day, which
is a day to give Canadians a chance to celebrate their achievements or relax with friends & family
The World's Tallest Totem Pole in Beacon Hill Park
Not only are there a plethora of totem poles on this island, but they also claim to have THE tallest

We loved seeing the mountains of Hurricane Ridge from a different point of view
The O'Babbitt's boozing on the hotel balcony in downtown Victoria, BC
We've found it is much easier to booze while not cruzing, so we made sure to take full advantage

Katie disappointed in our lack of wine at Pagliacci's Restaurant
This classic Italian eatery had everything; delicious bread, large portions, sweet wine,
live music & a loud owner, who was friends with everyone who walked in the door
After dinner we had no other choice than to keep drinking on the free shuttle to The Royal Casino!
