Since the theme of our cruise has been, "Oh, lets just wing it!" we did just that at our next port of call. As the tenders delivered us to Sitka, AK we weren't sure what to expect, but ended up being greeted by an abundance of wildlife in the city that the US took possession of Alaska in. (We are not cruise savvy & learned that tenders are small boats that transport passengers to ports the cruise ships are too large to dock in.)

The O'Babbitt's in Sitka, AK
This port was much smaller than Juneau, AK & the Oosterdam was the only cruise ship there |

St. Michael's Cathedral in the city of Sitka, AK
Katie had heard that this cathedral was something to see, but after looking around we both left uninspired
Luckily, we didn't realized other visitors were paying to view the small cathedral until after we left... |

Babbitt's artistic photo of an eagle flying past the Oosterdam
...we say we were lucky not to pay at St. Michael's, because after disembarking the tender,
Babbitt realized he forgot to bring our credit cards & cash...good thing he can spot an eagle quickly |
 |
O'Babbitt's at the Sitka National Historical Park
We hiked along Totem Trail & saw totems, seagulls, eagles & salmon jumping out of the water |
 |
Salmon spawning at Sitka National Historical Park
Although we didn't see bears, sea otters or whales these salmon put on quite a show |

The O'Babbitt's kissing Sitka's Blarney Stone
We have no clue what this stone really is, but after being in Ireland, Katie insisted we kiss it so we'd be
endowed with the gift of gab...looking back we should have read the informational plaque instead |
you should have kissed it upside down.....
