Most of the Floridians we talked to were very against our driving the Rig to Key West, but each time we were told it was a huge mistake we would look at the map & agree that it was doable. Well, good thing we did, because not only was the actual drive OK, but the scenery along the way was beautiful! What was not beautiful was the chilly weather & the KOA we made reservations at. When researching Key West we were stumped on places to park the Rig, but then we found this "award winning" KOA that looked great on paper...lots of activities, close to Duval Street & they even had a shuttle. Sadly, the reality was much different...the employees were not friendly, the water trampoline didn't exist, the hot tub was too packed with teenagers to get in, the shuttle was really a city bus and it took an hour & a half to get us anywhere close to Duval Street, plus there wasn't a late night bus, which meant we had to cut our time short at the bars...very upsetting! BUT enough complaining...we made it to Key West & we were going to make the best of it, so we mixed up some cocktails, watched a movie in the Rig until the rain stopped & agreed to get up early the next morning to catch the first "shuttle."
