Gators In The Glades

After our late night drive back to reality we learned a couple of things...there is definitely not a place to stop off the road and rest when leaving the Keys, we can not fit under McDonald's Drive Thrus and Cracker Barrel's also let RVs stay the night.  So, when we woke up, we both might have been a bit cranky, hungry and sleepy, which made for an interesting trip through the Everglades, but as soon as we saw the different airboat tours lining the Tamiami Trail we decided to suck it up and try to find some gators!
Airboat at Everglades Safari Park
There were quite a few tours to choose from, but we are pretty sure we picked the best one...we heard that a small airboat had flipped a few days before, so we felt good about this boat being larger
The O'Babbitt's ready to see some gators
The airboats are so loud everyone has to wear earplugs
One of the gators we saw in the Everglades
Look really close & you'll see the gators head...we saw 7 gators during our tour
Babbitt with Gary the Gator
We saw an alligator show after the airboat tour & then we
found out that the gators roam free throughout the park
The O'Babbitt's hoping to leave the park with all of their limbs
The sunset on the Tamaini Trail
We even stopped & made a dinner with gators at a small park on the trail

  1. Can you just picture how fast you would swim if your boat flipped in gator waters? Scary! Glad your tour was 'uneventful'!
