Tarpon Springs Is Definitely Sponge Worthy

We decided it was time to give Ken & Kelly a break from their new live in house guests, so we took a day trip to Tarpon Springs for wine, Greek food, Kava Tea, tons of sponges & more good times at the beach at Fred Howard Park!

Not only is Tarpon Springs the Sponge Capital of the World,
but is also has the highest percentage of Greek Americans living there
We couldn't say no to a free wine tasting, but it turns out this location
uses two tiny thimbles for their tasting, so we had no choice, but to buy a few
glasses and start drinking at 11:00 a.m.
OPAA!
We couldn't pass up the chance to have authentic saganaki at Hella's
We were told to try Kava Tea...apparently it makes you feel like you've had an adult
beverage without any alcohol.  We would strongly disagree and after we
chugged the dirt like tea for $5.75 a piece we were told that we'd need at least
four more cups to feel any affects.  We left shortly afterwards!

We misjudged how far the walk would be to the beach,
but at least we got some exercise & a beautiful view...we are blaming the Kava
Live Starfish at Fred Howard Park
It wasn't warm enough to go to the beach, but we came all the way to
Florida for the warm sun, so we made the best of it

  1. I drank plenty of kava in Fiji, and you can definitely get a pretty good buzz. Sounds like you got the "K2" equivalent.
