Goodbye To The A
On our last day in Atlanta we started at Mary Mac's Tea Room for juiciy fried chicken and delicious homemade sides. We then headed to the CNN Headquarters for a tour that honestly wasn't the best, however, we did get to ride the longest freestanding escalator in the world and see a number of giant Anderson Cooper wall paintings that made it all worth while. After that we walked across the street to the Olympic Cenntenial Park to see where the Magnificent Seven - USA Gymnastics Team hung out when they took the Gold in 1996. Our sightseeing ended at the Martin Luther King Jr., National Park, where we learned that the great leader preferred to be called ML. After all of the sightseeing we needed nourishment, so we checked out the famous Vortex Bar & Grill, giving us another chance to see Alaina!
Katie at Mary Mac's Tea Room...our favorite meal so far! They give all first time customers free Pot Likker with Cracklin' Bread (AKA pork soup & cornbread.) Our waiter was wonderful and also gave us a free glass of Table Wine of the South (AKA sweet tea).
The CNN World Headquarters! The main floor used to be home to the first indoor theme park, The World of Sid and Marty Krofft, but it closed within six months, because the park apparently scared children.
Babbitt with Anderson Cooper. The Coop is obviously the bread winner at CNN, which worked out for us since we love him and his confident walk!
Katie striking her best dismount pose at Olympic Centennial Park. If you want to be inspired today, click on the photo to check out the greatest gymnastics team to ever live!
Katie & Flat Henry at the house Martin Luther King Jr. was born. This park is extremely emotional, guests get to tour the Baptist church ML was a pastor at along with his father and grandfather, the eternal flame and site where ML and his wife Coretta are buried, the house ML was born and countless other exhibits.
Alaina & Katie at The Vortex Bar & Grill. Babbitt had to come here when he heard they served an enormous burger with two grilled cheese sandwiches as buns, called the Triple Bypass. When our waiter came he couldn't pull the trigger, but instead got a bacon cheese burger with pulled pork and spicy BBQ sauce on top.
